How it all began....A History of CPAC

 

The evolution of the Cresswind Performing Arts Club began with the completion of the much-anticipated clubhouse including the ballroom and stage, combined with a community of mostly retired residents with time and the desire to actively pursue their love of performing arts.

 

The story began in January 2014 with a group of friends and neighbors whose shared love of music and entertainment resulted in the production of the first Variety Show, with Ron Chiles as Director.  

 

 

Next the newly-formed Cresswind Neighborhood Theatre presented its first performance in June 2014 entitled “The 39 Steps – A Live Radio Play”, directed by Mim Gilberg and Bert Emma.

Also, in 2014, a group of singers called the Cresswind Chorus gathered to perform at that first Variety Show, and the seeds were sown for the formation of the Cresswind Community Chorus. Recruitment and rehearsals proceeded under the direction of Chuck Bridwell and accompanist Nancy Evans, with the debut performance in November 2014 prior to the Theatre’s second production, “The Regifters”, followed by the first Spring Music Spectacular in May 2015.

Thus began the collaborative and coordinated formation of the Cresswind Performing Arts Club - creative minds working together sharing resources and talent to provide creative outlets for residents and to present outstanding performances.

  

CPAC was officially formed in 2015 as a Special Interest Group (SIG), composed of the Cresswind Neighborhood Theatre, the Cresswind Community Chorus, and the Variety Show.  Then in 2017, with an HOA re-organization, SIGs became Clubs, and over the years the CPAC family has progressed to include additional clubs and events such as Storytelling, Playscript Readers Group (now known as Theatre-Goers Book Club), Liars Club, Art in Motion-Dance & More, Karaoke, Neighborhood Bands and more.

• Membership exceeds 350 residents with multiple opportunities both on stage and behind the scenes.

• Since its inception CPAC has generated over $70,000 of equipment, pianos, and technical upgrades for the community’s enjoyment.
